In Code Less, the goal was to create the sense of an overwhelming amount of animated code to contrast the minimal layout in the second shot.

To create the code, it was more practical to develop a master template comp in After Effects for one line of code using expressions and Essential Graphics than to design each line on its own. Each element of this template line can be turned on or off and customized in the main comp. This made generating all the unique snippets seen in the final render a quick process of duplicating and customizing the template comp.
